Dear Members, Partners, Friends and Colleagues of NEAR,
In the following newsletter updates (and the day-to-day lives of our members and partners across the Global South) – we have some powerful reminders that our movement is one of action, not rhetoric.
We witnessed this just last week at the Asia-Pacific Local Leaders (APLL) Summit in Kathmandu, Nepal. Bound together by locality, but grounded in radical principles of South-to-South cooperation as their way forward, the APLL have written a pact – the Kathmandu Covenant – asserting themselves as the primary
stakeholders of humanitarian, development and peace building in the Asia-Pacific Region. They also established the AASHA Fund – a regionally governed, community-led and people-centred pooled fund in the Asia-Pacific Region; and have jointly written their story.
We are happy to help share their story, as well as updates from the other regions.
In solidarity,
Hibak Kalfan
